The Spirit of Christmas and
A Dickens Christmas

Celebrate the Holiday Season in Historic New Castle, Delaware, as we present free and ticketed events featuring holiday crafts and vendors, street theater, character appearances from Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, musical performances and tours of historic homes.

On Saturday, December 13th, the annual celebration of the Spirit of Christmas includes tours of historic homes and gardens decorated for the season, musical performances and throughout the town, an all-day sale of handmade crafts and jewelry.

New to the Spirit of Christmas events, “A Dickens Experience,” will transport visitors back to mid-nineteenth century England to experience an interactive version of the Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A Christmas Carol. The cobblestone streets will be alive with bell ringing, carolers, street theater and vendors offering up old-fashioned Holiday fare. Meet members of the Cratchit Family, including Tiny Tim and look out for Ebenezer Scrooge.

Saturday’s activities begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with the town’s annual tree lighting ceremony with caroling in the Market Square and 5 p.m. Shops and restaurants will be open throughout the day welcoming visitors with special offers and discounts.

For more information on the Spirit of Christmas and Dickens’ Experience visit the New Castle Historical Society website at www.newcastlehistory.org.
